Superb, Splendid Senses
Campers spend the week using their five senses: sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste this week. Adventuring to different habitats will put our senses to the test as we explore, complete experiments, play games, and discover the world around us.

Get in Shape: Structures in Nature
Wings, nests, shelters, and tracks: it’s all about their shapes. This week we will be looking at natural structures found at the preserve, and designing and building our very own creations.

Birds, Bees, and Butterflies
In the skies, prairies, and trees our sights will be on birds, butterflies, and bees! Campers will learn all about native bird species, beautiful butterflies, and important pollinators. We will focus on life cycles, habitats, food sources, and more.

Art of Nature
This camp is all about finding art in nature and creating our own masterpieces out of objects found in the great outdoors. Our artists will hike, play games, and create art like no other using the preserve as inspiration.

In the Mud Kitchen
Campers will be cooking up lots of muddy creations in our mud kitchen. We’ll explore different areas of the preserve where animals and plants use mud. With their imagination, campers will make mud pies, cakes, and more all with ingredients nature has to offer.

Based on the TV show, Wild Kratts, campers will put on their super suits and explore the super powers of the wild animals that call Bubolz Preserve home. Each day we will be on the lookout for these incredible animals and their creature powers that make them unique and help them to survive.

We have a mystery that needs to be solved! Detectives will be on the lookout for tracks, scat, fur, feathers, and holes throughout the preserve. Using these clues, detectives will solve a new mystery each day, learning about the animals of Bubolz Preserve.

Earth, Sun, Air, and Water. Campers will learn about the four elements that shape our planet. We will explore the nature trails, prairies, and ponds. Creating crafts, completing experiments, and playing games will all be included in this exciting new camp.

Artists in the Wild
Using nature as their muse, campers will create their very own masterpiece! We will learn about different forms of art found in nature, how we can use nature as our canvas, and explore unique natural spaces.

What does it take to survive the great outdoors? During this week, campers will learn several outdoor skills including shelter and fire building, just to name a few. If you want to learn the skills for an ultimate adventure, this camp is for you!

Slippery, Slimy, Sleuths
During this camp, we will search the forests, ponds, and trails for the slippery, slimy, creatures that always seem to escape us. Campers will go pond dipping and turn over logs on nature hikes looking for frogs, tadpoles, salamanders, toads, and more.

Building with Nature
Are you ready for a challenge like no other? During this week, campers will only use raw materials from nature to build shelters, rafts, bridges, toys, and so much more. We will also try to cook our own food with the sun as our only heat source. Based on natural resources and sustainability, this STEM camp is an exciting addition to our summer programs.

During this week campers will get a chance to experience a variety of outdoor activities including archery, fishing, and orienteering. We will learn about the different habitats that make up the preserve: prairie, wetland, and forest, and how these habitats may be helpful in any outdoor situation. Basic knife skills and how to safely handle them is also included in this camp.

Surviving the Outdoors
This camp is for ultimate adventure seeker! Campers will spend time building shelters, learning different ways to start fires and cook over that fire, and basic first aid and safety skills. They will learn what to do in different survival situation by talking to experts. And on the final day, campers will end with an overnight stay in their handmade shelters, sleeping under the stars.

Campers will discover the renewable energy sources found at the preserve. We will learn about the Microgrid and how it stores energy for future needs. During the week, an exploration of different sources of energy such as solar and wind will be completed through experiments and games.
