Tuesday Feb. 21st 6-7pm ---Bat Monitoring Program
Bill Mueller of the Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Observatory will present an evening program on Wisconsin's bats, their ecology, and monitoring their populations - with information on how to get involved as a volunteer. Learn about threats to Wisconsin’s bats, and why we need to assist with learning more about their numbers and distribution. Learn how to use our electronic equipment to survey for bats in spring, summer, and fall -fascinating and fun!
Bill is an ornithologist and conservation biologist with the Observatory. He is Conservation Chair for the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology, and Project Coordinator with the Milwaukee BIOME Project. Cost is FREE to public!
Saturday March 3rd 11am-3pm ---Adopt- A- Bucket
Join us anytime between 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Participants will decorate a bucket with their favorite design. Pictures will be taken of the family and decorated bucket. There will be demonstrations on how to tap a maple tree in the Preserves sugar bushes and then the decorated buckets will be hung to catch sap throughout the 2012 Sap Season. An 8 oz. Jar of maple syrup, pictures taken of you and your family with your bucket, and maple syrup sundaes included for $25/bucket for members and $30/bucket for nonmembers.
Saturday March 24th-- Turkey Hunting Workshop
Turkey Calling Made Easy by EZ Access Gear, Inc and Badger Sportsman Magazine.
Our workshop will be covering basic turkey calling techniques,
scouting, hunting, and the cleaning of the birds. A high quality
box call will be included in the price of this workshop. You will
also be able to sample wild turkey "poppers" at the end of the
workshop while we chat about turkeys. Cost: $25/person. Preregistration and payment required
Saturday March 31st ---31st Annual Maple Syrup Saturday & Pancake Breakfast
Come out and enjoy the fruits of a Wisconsin spring! Tours begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue throughout the day until 3:00 p.m. Cost for a tour $15/family, $5/adult, $3/kids 16 & under. Members of the Preserve are FREE & kids 3 & under are FREE. Tours take place at Bubolz Nature Preserve. Pancake and Porky Breakfast will be served at the Girl Scouts Service Center, morning seatings: 9:30, 10:00, 10:30 and 11:00 am. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED FOR BREAKFAST. Breakfast & Tour : $7.00/adults; $5.00 for children ages 4-16 Tours of the Preserve's syrup producing process begin with a hike through the woods for a look at the sugar bush. A discussion of the different species of trees and the quality of sap produced by each will be held along the way. Methods of harvesting used by pioneers, as well as modern techniques, will be discussed. Last stop will be to see the final processing of the syrup for bottling and of course eating! After the tour, guests will have the opportunity to taste fresh maple syrup over ice cream. Syrup related products and equipment will be on display and available for purchase.
Saturday April 14th & Saturday April 21st 9-4pm --- 2 day Woodcarving Workshop
Join artist Lee Belanger as he guides through the techniques of carving on Cottonwood bark. Visit workshops for additional details. Cost is $60 nonmembers & $50 for members includes cottonwood and lunch.
Wednesday April 18th 6-8pm---Rain Barrel Workshop
An ecofriendly way to keep your plants healthy while saving money on your utility bill! Join Rodney Sternhagen designer of this 55-gallon insect, pet, and child proof rain barrel. Each barrel has a faucet to easily attach your hose, an overflow pipe, and wire screening. Rodney will provide the tools and supplies to create your very own rain barrel. They make excellent gifts too! Visit workshops for additonal information. Cost is $50 nonmembers & $40 for members.
May-June-- Yoga on the Wildside *
Join Carol Bolton RYT 500 Nationally certified and registered Yoga Instructor at the Bubolz Nature Preserve. Classes will be held outside (weather and insect dependent) to allow you to experience nature with yoga! Experience fresh air like you never have before! Enjoy the serenity of wildlife during your yoga session. Please call for dates, cost, and preregistration.

Cement Leaf Casting Demo
Great mother's day present! Learn the materials needed, the steps to create, and how to add your finishing touches. Join Steve Schultz, Master Gardner and expert leaf caster for this how-to step by step demo to prepare you to create your own leaf castings when you get home. Cost for the demo is $5/person and includes a list of materials needed as well as directions.

Kids Day Camp- Nature Wellness Series*
Kids will start the day off at 9am with an outdoor yoga session( inside if weather is bad). After yoga the Fox Valley Herp Club will bring in rare lizards, geckos, iguanas, snakes, turtles, & frogs. Kids will be able to hold and touch several of the reptiles from 10am-11am. Preregistration and Payment required for Day Camps by June 1st. Cost $10/kid.

Reptile Fest
Fox Valley Herp Club will bring in some rare lizards, geckos, iguanas, snakes, turtles, & frogs. Program will be open to the public to stop in as they wish between 11am-12pm. Cost is $3/person or $7/family.

Join Master Basket Weaver Sandy Bulgrin author and co-founder of Basket Bits Magazine. Bring a bag lunch. Preregistration and Payment is required by May 31st 2012.

Saturday July 28th- X-Mas is July Basket Weaving 10am-4pm
Join Master Basket Weaver Sandy Bulgrin author and co-founder of Basket Bits Magazine. Bring a bag lunch. Preregistration and Payment is required by July 25th 2012.
